Infant- Toddler Program

Our Infant-Toddler Program is divided into three separate classrooms, which allows for "room to grow".  The curriculum is based on The Creative Curriculum and The Connecticut Guidelines for the Development of Infant & Toddler Early Learning.  Our teachers provide opportunities for each child to meet individualized goals, foster independence and build social skills.  Our teachers use the Ages and Stages Questionnaire to document every child's developmental growth to make sure that there is a successful entry into Preschool.

Our Infant Program provides an ideal environment in which your child will learn to grasp toys, vocalize sounds, recognize pictures of familiar objects and acquire a variety of other skills.  Our teachers work with each child in a series of stimulating activities that incorporate the natural routines of feeding and play.  The teacher reinforces age appropriate development without disrupting their daily schedule.

As infants mature and become toddlers, we continue to stimulate their senses and encourage them to explore their world.  Your child will learn such skills as pushing and pulling objects, turning and bending, sorting objects by size and color, exploring the concept of big and little and building beginning vocabulary.

At this stage, your toddler will start to experience a somewhat more structured classroom routine.  He or she will start to learn valuable skills such as taking direction from adults other than parents, how to co-exist with other children in a fun learning environment, and how to share.  Our staff understands the challenges that one and two year olds face in a social learning setting, and have experience in helping them adjust.

Preschool Program

Our Preschool Program uses The Creative Curriculum for Preschool and the Connecticut Department of Education Preschool Assessment Frameworks.  Our program combines learning experiences and structured play in a fun, safe and nurturing environment - offering far more than just child care.  Preschool is the first introduction to a lifetime of learning, a journey that should start off on the right foot.

Our enthusiastic teachers genuinely care about children, and understand each child's individual developmental needs and learning styles.  They take the time to help each child discover, in his or her own way, a fascinating world of play and learning.  We strive to make children feel comfortable and confident so they are ready and able to have a successful entry into elementary school.

Before and After School Program

Our Before and After School Program is a great benefit working parents.  School aged children that attend Lee H. Kellogg School can be dropped off as early as 7:15 am to eat breakfast, socialize, and wait for the bus which brings them to school.  Children attending our after school program are met at the bus in the FVDCC parking lot by a lead or assistant teacher.  When they arrive, they go outside weather permitting and can then have a snack.  They can do homework and/or have individual and group play until they are picked up.
